WEST is delighted to announce that Dr. Jeffrey B. Bradley, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, F.ASCE is the recipient of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE) 2020 Service to the Academy Award, for his significant leadership and vital contributions in furthering the mission and goals of the Academy. Specifically, Dr. Bradley is recognized for his service and leadership as AAWRE’s founding President from 2004-2007, his vital contributions to help launch the AAWRE, and for championing the D.WRE Board Certification and post-license board certification in the civil engineering profession.

Dr. Bradley is a nationally renowned expert with more than four decades of experience in hydraulics, hydrology, and sedimentation. He is a registered professional engineer in California, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. He is internationally recognized for his work on mud and debris flows and their effects on alluvial fan flooding. He has served on over a dozen External Review and Expert Panels for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and others. Dr. Bradley is a recipient of the ASCE Arid Lands and Hydraulic Engineering Award, the EWRI Service to the Profession Award, the USCID Service to the Profession Award, the Oregon Section of ASCE Engineer of the Year Award, and was selected for the Oregon State University Academy of Distinguished Engineering and other awards.

Dr. Bradley remarked:

“It is my great pleasure to accept this Service to the Academy Award. It was my privilege to serve as the first AAWRE President for three years. I might note all following Presidents served for one year which may be a statement as to my sanity! The Academy serves a great purpose in providing advanced certification and in recognizing superior achievement in the water resources engineering profession.
