WEST Announces New President
Martin Teal, P.E., P.H., D.WRE, has been promoted to president of WEST Consultants, Inc. He joined the firm as hydraulic engineer in 1993 and has served as senior vice president for the last five years. Mr. Teal succeeds founding president, Jeffrey Bradley, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, who passed away unexpectedly in September 2020. “I’m excited to build upon the legacy of technical expertise and client service for which WEST is known within the industry,” said Mr. Teal.
Mr. Teal has 30 years of experience in water resources engineering with extensive experience in design and analysis of hydrologic, hydraulic, and scour related projects. He has managed numerous hydrologic and hydraulic studies, including large multiple-delivery contracts for several districts of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In addition, he is skilled in the use and development of numerical models for dam failure inundation modeling; flood hazard studies; watershed analyses; flood control, geomorphic and sedimentation studies; and the preparation of FEMA flood insurance studies and letters of map revision.
Mr. Teal has worked on scour analyses for pipeline crossings throughout the Southwest; provided bridge scour analyses for state DOT’s in California, Arizona, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington; and performed applied fluvial geomorphology studies for many projects to analyze and/or predict river behavior. His work experience has taken him to over 30 U.S. states and countries in North, Central, and South America, as well as to Europe, Asia, and Africa. Additionally, Mr. Teal is the recipient of the 2020 Hogg-Owen Award for Meritorious Achievement in the Floodplain Management Association (FMA). This award recognizes individuals who have achieved success in a significant activity benefiting the FMA.
