Andreas Kammereck
PE
Vice President, Bellevue, WA
Andreas Kammereck, PE, is a Vice President leading operations for WEST’s Bellevue, Washington, office. He has over 28 years of experience in hydrology and hydraulics (H&H), fluvial geomorphologic, and civil design integrated with geotechnical and geologic efforts. His expertise includes client and project management, risk-based assessment, planning, engineering, design, specifications, cost estimates, permit support, construction, and emergency response. Before joining WEST, Mr. Kammereck served as a river and flood engineer with Whatcom County Public Works and ~23 years as an engineering consultant with Golder Associates (recently acquired by WSP). His client and project experience covers hundreds of streams and most of the major rivers in the Pacific Northwest; programs and projects spanning the continental United States and Canada; as well as projects in Australia, Africa, the Middle East, Indonesia, Mexico, and South America.
Mr. Kammereck’s typical projects include surface and stormwater engineering; riverine dynamics and channel migration assessments; erosion and scour assessment and mitigation; H&H modeling and fluvial geomorphic assessments; riverine and floodplain-scale planning and hazard assessment; remote stream/river flow monitoring and flood forecasting; fish passage assessment and design, risk-based hydrotechnical performance of linear (i.e., pipeline) infrastructure at river/stream crossings; steep slope right-of-way erosion and stability restoration and mitigation; landslide mitigation design, geohazard field reconnaissance data collection and assessment; construction engineering owner-representative subject matter expert (SME) support during installation of river/stream geohazard mitigation work; and other SME and expert testimony support. He has extensive experience integrating hydrotechnical hazard assessments of linear (i.e., pipeline system) infrastructure into asset and integrity management programs that identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor geohazards. Mr. Kammereck is also experienced in developing GIS-based geohazard databases and program procedures, risk-based decision frameworks, and program-level geohazard asset and integrity risk-reduction programs.
Mr. Kammereck has published on early flood warning and forecasting, mitigation and design of river bank stabilization using standard-of-practice as well as alternative methods and materials, assessment of vertical and horizontal geomorphic processes governing channel migration hazards, managing hydrotechnical risks at river/stream crossings for large linear (pipeline) infrastructure programs, and mitigation of related geohazards along linear infrastructure alignments with industry-recognized participation in the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America. He is active in the local and national professional associations, with memberships in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the ASCE-International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Technical Committee on Scour and Erosion, Northwest Regional Floodplain Management Association, the American Water Resources Association, the Western Energy Institute, and the Northwest Gas Association.
