The Texas Floodplain Management Association (TFMA) is an organization of professionals involved in floodplain management, flood hazard mitigation, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), flood preparedness, warning, and disaster recovery. The Association has become a respected voice in floodplain management practice and policy in Texas. The Association includes flood hazard specialists from local, State, and Federal agencies, the mortgage, insurance, and research communities, and the associated fields of flood zone determination, engineering, hydraulic forecasting, emergency response, water resources, geographic information systems, and others.
The TFMA Technical Summit is recognized for its dynamic programming, quality presentations, and information on the latest advances in the practice of floodplain management and other industry-related fields. The information and collaborative environment provided enhance attendees’ ability to guide and serve their organizations.
Summit Objectives:
- Present high quality and relevant education in industry areas such as floodplain management, stormwater, engineering, water resources, and more.
- Create a Summit that supports the participants educational needs and allows them to take back practical information they are able to use in their day-to-day activities.
- Create a successful event that sustains the Technical Summit model for which TFMA is known.

- Staff Engineer, Caileen Yu, MS, will be presenting the concurrent session “Texas Storm Study: Design Storm Recommendations for Large Watersheds in Texas” Thursday, August 29th, at 4:35 pm.
- Vice President, Ramesh Chintala, PE, CFM, BC.WRE, Director of Applied Research, Brent Travis, PhD, and Senior Engineer, Alireza Nowroozpour, PhD, will be presenting “A Geomorphologic Analysis at a Unique Scour Critical Bridge” Thursday, August 29th, at 3:10 pm.
