National Hydrologic Warning Council (NHWC) 15th Biennial Training Conference & Exposition

June 16 - June 20

The NHWC conference provides hydrologic warning education and training for field personnel, engineers, hydrologists, forecasters, water resource managers, emergency management officials, and others. The program will include a wide range of keynote presentations, workshops, and detailed technical sessions that cover the needs of communities from those just getting started to those that already have advanced systems. There is also an extensive exposition showcasing the latest technology, products and services.

Theme: Beyond the Saguaro

The conference this year will hold true to its roots bringing together leaders in flood warning system planning, design, and implementation and will also seek to expand our horizons by including tracks built around climate change and drought related issues.

WEST Presence:
  • Vice President, Andreas Kammereck, PE, and Senior Technical Advisor, David C. Curtis, PhD, PH, F.EWRI, will be attending.
  • Hydrologist/Scientist, Jeffery Budnick, will present “Amarillo by Monitoring: A New Texas Flood Warning System” Wednesday, 2:00-2:30 p.m.
  • Senior Program Manager, Lee von Gynz-Guethle, PE, BC.WRE, CFM, will present “Developing a Guide for Simple and Affordable Flood Early Warning Systems” Wednesday, 4:30-5:00 p.m.
  • GIS Analyst/Staff Scientist, Katie Messick, MGIS, MS, will present “Using GIS to Calculate Geomorphological Change in a River System Over Time” Thursday, 4:00-4:30 p.m.
